Understanding The Balance Between Adult Led & Child Initiated

DESCRIPTION:

Session One: Promoting listening & language skills within child-initiated learning. This session will look at the listening and language skills we can promote through our quality interactions. Strategies and examples of this will provided. Most importantly, choosing what to say and which skills to develop with whom will be discussed in detail. This will allow practitioners to use interactions to promote specific skills, to differentiate language enrichment and to embed support for those with language need.

Session Two: Promoting social, emotional and play skills within child-initiated learning. This session will look at the social, emotional and play skills we can promote through our quality interactions. Strategies and examples of this will be provided to develop skills such as turn-taking, thinking about things from another's point of view, choosing and planning skills along with creativity and symbolic skills. Most importantly, choosing what to promote and which skills to develop with whom will be discussed in detail. This will allow practitioners to use interactions to promote specific skills, to differentiate interactions and to embed support for those with needs in these areas.
