Description: The Leuvan Scales developed by professor Ferre Laevers and his team at The Centre for Experiential Education, Leuvan University in Belgium. The Leuvan Scales are an objective way of measuring and supporting children's well-being and levels of involvement.
Well being tells us to what extent the interactions between child and setting lead to the fulfilment of the child's basic needs; involvement tells us how much the child is engaging in activities and how challenging our approach is. When these two conditions are fulfilled, we know both the social-emotional and cognitive development of the child is secured.
