Autumn Term Conference - Developing Children's Creativity
Autumn Term Conference 2016 - Developing Children's Creativity With Jonathan Lear
Thursday 3rd November 2016 - 8.45am - 3.30pm
Jonathan is a practising teacher and deputy head at an inner-city primary school, Jonathan doesn't so much teach as create an atmosphere in his classroom that is magical, engaging and exciting and that makes the children desperate to get on and learn.
'Guerilla Teaching' is what Jonathan calls his award-winning combinations of great creativity, a sound grasp of pedagogy and a willingness to take more than a few risks in the classroom. And, as you would expect from a 'guerilla teacher' he doesn't let anything the government might say or do get in his way when it comes to doing the right thing for his young learners.
Jonathan is able to provide thought provoking and inspiring training.
Recent feedback from happy clients in recent months: "Jonathan was brilliant, truly inspirational, made a huge impact. My planning next year will be influenced by what i have seen and heard today".
Jonathan will explore how the messages we've always been given about successful lessons may actually be preventing our children from reaching their potential. Through taking a different approach to challenge and by embracing desirable difficulties Jonathan will look at how we can ensure that our children take ownership of their learning through getting involved, being active and developing their creative thinking.
To develop this thinking further, Jonathan will also look at how the power of stories can be used to incredible effect in building opportunities for creative thinking. Drawing on Dorothy Heathcote's Mantle of the expert approach, Jonathan will explore practical strategies that can be taken away and used immediately in the classroom.
