Description:  This course explores ways in which KS1 children can learn about Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation as specified in the new National Curriculum for English and the importance of these features in gaining understanding in reading and in the effectiveness of writing within the context of quality texts.

Key Aims:

  • To understand how quality texts can support learning in Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation as specified in the new National Curriculum for English and within the context of the changes in assessment for English
  • To widen and deepen knowledge of quality texts and assess their usefulness in learning and teaching particularly in Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation
  • To review, refresh and extend subject knowledge in the conventions of English grammar and punctuation
  • To examine how greater awareness of these areas can support in reading and writing
